For a wedding in the age of COVID, help us celebrate safely

NOTE: As this situation rapidly evolves, please check this page for the latest info

Vaccinations are required for attendance

In order to ensure that all of our guests can celebrate safely, we’re asking everyone who attends to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. See the Q&A below for more details.

Negative COVID test required for return travel to the US

This is a CDC requirement for all international travel upon return to the US. Please plan to bring enough COVID tests for your entire party to be tested before you return from Mexico, as the airport will turn you away without proof of a negative COVID test.

Notably, the test must be proctored. We recommend purchasing a eMed proctored Abbot test, and using that on the morning of your return flight. Make sure you give yourself enough time for the test.

The Cabo Azul (hotel with our room block) offers rapid antigen testing on-site, at a price of $40 per person. You will need to arrange this with the front desk, and they are only available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. Since the requirement is that you have a test taken no more than 1 day before your departure, make sure to consider the timing of you test appointment.

Negative rapid COVID tests while in Los Cabos

While vaccinations will help ensure we all are less likely to harbor the virus and get seriously sick if we catch it, vaccinations don’t stop transmission. We kindly ask you to take a rapid COVID test every 48 hours that you are in Los Cabos. Wake up, brush your teeth, take a COVID test, and by the time your coffee is ready you’ll have a result and will be be on your way to a day in the Mexican sun.

You can 4 order free at-home tests from the US government here, and by the time the wedding rolls around, pharmacies and various places online should have sufficient stock of rapid tests.

Masks in indoor spaces

Los Cabos in June means most everyone will already be outside. If you go in to a grocery store, a shop, or a restaurant, you will potentially be required to wear a mask as a condition for entry. Even if it isn’t a requirement for any given establishment, please mask up. It’ll help ensure we can all celebrate safely when the big event arrives.

Free N95 masks can be found at most pharmacies. An N95 or KN95 mask is best, and is what we wear when out and about.

Questions, answered

What do you consider “vaccinated”?

At least two doses of an FDA-approved vaccine. If your last dose was 6 months ago or longer, then a booster dose would be required for you to be considered vaccinated. If you were diagnosed through a PCR or rapid test with COVID, and only have 2 shots, that will be fine as well.

I’m planning to bring small children who aren’t yet eligible for the vaccine. How should we proceed?

If there is no young pediatric (<5 year old) vaccine approved by the FDA a month before the wedding, don’t worry about it. If there is, we’d greatly appreciate you getting your kids vaccinated.

Thankfully, it looks to be on the horizon.
